Direct Energy and City of Canal Fulton Offer Residents and Small Businesses Natural Gas Price
Direct Choice provides pricing stability during winter heating months
Canal Fulton, OH (10/27/2009) - As colder temperatures approach the Buckeye State, the City of Canal Fulton has announced that it’s recommending Direct Energy’s natural gas services to the community’s residents and small businesses.
Through a marketing agreement called Direct Choice, the City of Canal Fulton is recommending to its citizens Direct Energy’s natural gas product. The product offers a fixed price of $7.36 per Mcf from the December 2009 to November 2010 bill cycles. After the November 2010 bill cycle, the price may remain variable unless a new price is established by the city. A senior citizen discount of $0.10 per Mcf is available upon request to customers 65 years of age and over. The term of the agreement between Direct Energy and the city is in effect through the November 2011 bill cycle.
“Now is the time that most customers begin preparing their home for the cold weather season, but all too often they don’t think about the price they are paying for natural gas until they are well into the winter heating season,” said Mike Beck, Vice President of Direct Energy. “Customers in Canal Fulton should review the Direct Choice offer now and determine if it’s a plan that fits their household needs.”
In order to take advantage of the Direct Choice offer, residents need to be eligible to participate in the state’s customer choice program and have a residence or business located within the city limits. Also, residents must actively enter into a contract with Direct Energy to receive this price. If residents are already under contract with another supplier, but wish to enroll with Direct Energy, they are encouraged to review their current contract to determine if they will be charged an early cancellation fee to switch suppliers.
To learn more about Direct Energy’s Direct Choice offer, residents can contact Direct Energy’s Customer Service Department toll free at: 1-866-803-4618, Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. EST and Saturday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. EST.
The City of Canal Fulton already has an existing agreement with Direct Energy for a natural gas Opt-Out Aggregation Program, a separate program that is available to residential and small business consumers currently served by the utility. Under the Opt-Out Aggregation process, consumers currently served by the utility are automatically included in the Opt-Out Aggregation pricing plan unless they contact Direct Energy to be excluded.
